The three ways AI actually makes money

Everyone overcomplicates this. There are really three:

• Sell an AI tool or output. You make something with AI (a design, a script, a small app, a set of images) and sell it. The buyer pays for the result, not the AI.
• Do a real service faster with AI. You already can do a thing — write, edit video, build a website, prepare taxes — and AI lets you do it in a tenth of the time. You charge for the service; AI is your speed.
• Teach or package what AI can do. Most people don't know how. A clear guide, a template, or a course is money because it saves them the learning.

The mistake is waiting for a perfect idea. Pick one of the three and start small this week.

Pick a niche and a first offer

A niche is just "who + what." Narrow beats broad because a specific person recognizes themselves.

• Who: a group you already understand (small landlords, barbers, taco trucks, gym owners).
• What: one painful, repeating job you can do with AI (their website, their captions, their bookkeeping).
• Price the outcome, not the hours. "A website that gets you calls" is worth more than "5 hours of work." Start with one flat price you'd be happy to get paid.
• One offer, one price, one week. Don't build a menu. Sell one thing until it works.

Get your first customer and get paid

• Go where they already are — a local group, a niche forum, ten businesses on a map. Give value first (a free sample, one honest tip), then offer.
• Show, don't tell. One real example of your work beats ten paragraphs. Build a free demo for them and let them keep it if they say yes.
• Take payment cleanly. A single checkout link (like Gumroad) so there's no awkward money talk — they click, they pay, you deliver.
• Deliver, then ask for one referral. The second and third customers come from the first happy one.
• Reinvest the time AI saved into finding the next customer. That loop is the whole business.

That's the entire game: one niche, one offer, value first, a clean checkout, deliver, repeat.
